Being the first, and only, wine merchant to sell only English wines, sets The Wine Pantry apart from all other wine merchants. We believe that this exclusivity played a considerable role in the decision to bestow one of the Grand Ideas Awards to Julia Stafford’s enterprising business. Continue reading
For a special treat, we booked in for lunch at the newly opened Lord Binning Pub & Kitchen at Kelsall. And what a treat it was. The Lord Binning is set in the most tranquil of settings, far enough away from the hurly-burly of the main roads, but well worth a detour to pay a visit.
We were greeted by Paul Newman, partner at the Lord Binning, and were spoilt for choice when it was time to order. Paul showed us to our table and discussed the menu with us. The food was plentiful, fresh and very tasty. Continue reading

Temperature is probably the most crucial factor to appreciate any wine at its optimum best. Glass style, food and environmental conditions all play a part but serve your wine at the wrong temperature and it just will not develop to its true potential.
Generally speaking white wine is served colder than red – there are exceptions of course and it can also be a matter of personal preference. Continue reading
When the clocks went back an hour on Sunday, Winter arrived! I’m not sure if people elsewhere in the UK felt the same, but I can speak for everybody living ‘Up North’ that this past week has been wet, dark and miserable!
So it’s a good job we have the fun and frolics of Bonfire Night at the weekend to look forward to! Toffee apples, pie and peas, parkin and bonfire toffee! Continue reading
